Deregulation Commission

The federal government Kohl put an "Independent Commission of Experts to reduce anti-market regulations (at 16 December 1987 deregulation Commission a)". Its task was to examine various market segments and to suggest deregulating them, as well as creating more competition and increasing the citizens' freedom of choice.

The economist Juergen B. Donges took over the management . The final report appeared in 1991 and contained 97 demolition ideas.

The results were u. a. The abolition of the compulsory master craftsman in the handicrafts, the concessions in the taxi trade , the abolition of monopolies in the energy market, proposed at the Deutsche Bundespost with regard to the telephone and postal market, as well as in the transport system for rail and air traffic .

The ideas were taken up by later federal governments and partially implemented. B. Rail reform , postal reform , privatization of Lufthansa , creation of the Federal Network Agency for competition in electricity, gas, telecommunications, post and railways after privatization of these segments.
