Derek R. Stockalper (born March 4, 1984 in Vevey ) is an American / Swiss basketball player . He belongs to the squad of the national league club Lugano Tigers .

Player career

Stockalper, whose father Dan was a professional basketball player in Switzerland and was appointed to the "Nati", played at Carlsbad High School in the US state of California . In the 2002/03 season he was on the team at the University of San Diego , then moved to MiraCosta College and later on to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo . Regarding the statistical values, the 2006/07 season was his most successful for "Cal Poly": He achieved an average of 14.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.2 basket assists in that game year.

After the end of his university career Stockalper moved to Switzerland to Lugano Tigers in the National League A . In the 2007/08 season he was named the best local player in the national league by the internet service eurobasket.com . In 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 he won the Swiss championship with Lugano. In 2011, 2012 and 2015 he also won the national cup competition with the team.

In 2007 he was appointed to the Swiss national team for the first time.
