Coat of arms of the von Derfelden

Derfelden is the name of an old Baltic noble family .

history

An ancestry of the sex from the Westphalian von Dorfeld zu Hoppeke in the Brilon office seems conceivable, but has not been proven. In addition to some evidence to this effect, the fact remains that both families' coats of arms are identical. Relatives were found in Dorpat and Reval in the first two known Baltic generations . Even these cannot be brought into a filiation context. The sex has its proven origin in Dorpat. The line of tribe begins with the Swedish admiral and governor of Hapsal Johann von Derfelden (* 1561; † 1633).

In 1745 the family was included in the register of nobility (No. 18) of the Estonian knighthood .

Among the grandchildren of the progenitor, the family was divided into four lines, as follows:

  • Johann Heinrich von Derfelden (* 1635; † 1707), royal Swedish cavalry master and judge in Estonia , donated the Weltz line . This first line was decided in 1764.
  • Heinrich Otto von Derfelden († 1681), royal Swedish lieutenant, founded the Lautel line . From this line Gisbert Franco von Derfelden (* 1780; † 1857), Dutch chamberlain and geographer, was raised to the baron status in 1823 as a baron on Hinderstein and Schnellenburg . With him, however, the line is also extinguished.
  • Detloff von Derfelden (* 1642, † 1707), judge in Estonia, donated the Klosterhof line . The Imperial Russian General Wilhelm von Derfelden (* 1737, † 1819) also belongs here . With the imperial Russian major Johann Jakob von Derfelden (* 1764, † 1828), the family took possession of the Karris estate on Oesel and was also entered in the nobility register of the Ösel knighthood in 1800 (No. 23). This second branch already went out with his children. The third branch, Emmomäggi , is considered to be "lost in Russia", so it can certainly continue to exist up to the present day, so there is no reliable knowledge about it. In Germany, the Klosterhof line with the imperial Russian colonel and attaché in Rome, Christoph von Derfelden (* 1888, † 1947), began.
  • Berend Johann von Derfelden (* 1654; † 1721), royal Swedish captain and also a judge in Estonia, donated the Kailes line . Admission to the nobility register of the Livonian knighthood (no. 233) took place in 1797 for the imperial Russian major Karl Johann Gustav von Derfelden (* 1769; † 1808). With Boris Nikolai Heinrich von Derfelden (* 1898, † after 1958) from the 3rd branch Seyershof , this line also found its origin in the male line in Namibia .
