Good put caste
In the Middle Ages, Putkaste was an episcopal village called Saulepa . In the 16th century the Putkaste estate was founded. It was united with the Suuremõisa Manor in 1620 . The owner was the Swedish military Jakob De la Gardie (1583-1652). In 1691 the estate was confiscated by the Swedish state as part of the reduction. From 1720 to 1755 Putkaste was a crown property . From 1805 Putkaste was owned by the noble Baltic German family Stackelberg . The last owner before the expropriation in the course of the Estonian land reform in 1919 was Margarethe Baroness Stackelberg.
From 1934 to 1938 an agricultural school was housed on the estate. During the Soviet occupation of Estonia, the manor house was used for the administration of the sovkhozes founded in 1944 . In 1977 the pilot plant of the sovkhoz was established there.
The main building was erected at the beginning of the 19th century immediately after ownership was transferred to the von Stackelberg family. The two-and-a-half-story building is in the classicism style. The arched window above the main entrance is characteristic. The side wings are decorated with triangular gables. The large hall faces the garden. There is a representative pond in front of the house. The building is empty today.
In the spring of 2007, a fire destroyed the property's historic granary.
