Sääre is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality Hiiumaa (until 2017: rural municipality Pühalepa ). It is located on the second largest Estonian island Hiiumaa (German Dagö ), directly on the Baltic coast .

Description and history

Today Sääre has 35 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). The place was first mentioned in 1565 under the name Särle by . In 1600 a port is recorded, Särle ham .

To the north of the village, a two-kilometer headland extends into the Baltic Sea, the Sääre nina . Its tip forms the northeasternmost point of the island Hiiumaa.
