Kaleste is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality Hiiumaa (2013 to 2017: rural municipality Hiiu , before that rural municipality Kõrgessaare ) on the second largest Estonian island Hiiumaa (German Dagö ).

Kaleste has five residents (as of December 31, 2011).

The place is located in the southwest of the Kõpu peninsula ( Kõpu poolsaar ) in a landscape characterized by forest and dunes . The highest dune is 44.7 m high. The Baltic Sea Bay of Kalaste ( Kalaste laht ) extends south of the village .

The area around Kaleste is particularly popular with hikers and camping enthusiasts.
