Leigri

Leigri is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural community Hiiumaa (2013 to 2017: rural community Hiiu , before that rural community Kõrgessaare ) on the second largest Estonian island Hiiumaa (German Dagö ).
Description and history
Leigri has one resident (as of December 31, 2011). The place is 17 kilometers southwest of the island's capital Kärdla .
The historical tavern Murru ( Murru kõrts ) is best known . There, Gustav Feliks Rinne (1831–1895), the pastor of Reigi , organized the first song festival on Hiiumaa island in the open air in 1867 . A memorial stone has been commemorating the event since 1992.
Around the village is the 190 hectare nature reserve Leigri ( Leigri looduskaitseala ). It was launched in 1998. The moorland serves primarily as a breeding ground for the black stork .
