Tareste is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality Hiiumaa (until 2017: rural municipality Pühalepa ). It is located on the second largest Estonian island Hiiumaa (German Dagö ).

Description and history

Tareste (German Tarrist ) has 23 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). The village was first mentioned in 1565 under the name Tharis .

The place is three kilometers northwest of the island's capital Kärdla , directly on the Baltic Sea bay Tareste laht .

The stream Tareste oja flows through the village .
