Hiiessaare

Hiiessaare (German Hiesaar ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural community Hiiumaa (until 2017: rural community Pühalepa ). It is located on the second largest Estonian island Hiiumaa (German Dagö ).

The place is on the Baltic Sea coast , immediately east of the airport of the island's capital Kärdla ( Kertel ). The airport, built in the early 1960s, belongs to the area of the village.
As of December 31, 2011, Hiessaare has 13 inhabitants.
lighthouse
The Hiiessaare lighthouse is 19 meters above sea level. The concrete base is 17 m high. It was built in 1953.
Together with the light signal from the church of Pühalepa , the lighthouse guides the ships on the northeast coast of Hiiumaas to the port of Suuresadama .
