The Derwent is a river that forms the border between Northumberland and County Durham from its source to Rowlands Gill . The Derwent arises from the confluence of the Beldon Burn and Nookton Burn east of Blanchland .
To the west of Consett , the Derwent flows through the Derwent Reservoir .
The reservoir Kielder Water has a connection to the Derwent and can supplement its water volume if necessary.
The Derwent flows into the Tyne on the southern edge of Newcastle-upon- Tyne .
