The Deschampsia Point is a headland on the north west side of Signy Iceland in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located 500 m northeast of the Spindrift Rocks .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1991 after the location of the Antarctic Schmiele ( Deschampsia antarctica ) found here by the British Antarctic Survey .
