Desert is an Israeli power metal band. According to the band, the band name refers to the biblical deserts through which Moses led his people to the Holy Land .

history

The band was originally founded in 2002 by keyboardist Oleg Aryutkin as a power metal act. During this time the band played a few concerts, especially in Israel itself. In 2005 Desert released their first demo under the title The Way to Honor, on which the first pieces with a historical theme appeared.

After their second album Prophecy of the Madman , which was released in 2006, Desert signed with the Greek label Sleaszy Rider Records .

In 2011 Desert released her first full album entitled Star of Delusive Hopes . The album received quite positive reviews, for example from metal.archives.com , who consider the album to be "a very successful debut". Joakim Broden from Sabaton could be heard on the song Lament for Soldier's Glory . In the same year Desert toured for the first time through various European countries and was on stage at the Sabaton Open Air in Falun , for example .

In 2015 the album Never Regret was released , on which Ralf Scheepers , known from Gamma Ray , sang along with the song 1812 . Furthermore, a music video appeared for the song Son of a Star , which was filmed in the Israeli Negev . The album, like its predecessor, received mostly positive reviews.

From 2016 Desert toured again through different countries, among other things as support for Sabaton or Civil War.

According to the band, 2017 will be used for work on the new album.

style

Originally founded as a pure power metal band, the band can now also be assigned to epic and dark metal in style. Similar to Sabaton and Civil War , Desert's texts deal with historical topics, often related to war and the military, such as Son of a Star (deals with Simon bar Kochba , the leader of the Jewish uprising against the Romans ) or Lament for Soldier's Glory (on Order 227 from Stalin ).

Others

The band members come to a large extent from the former Soviet Union .
