Desiderius Hampel
Desiderius Hampel (born January 20, 1895 in Sisak , Austria-Hungary , † January 11, 1981 in Graz , Austria ) was an Austrian officer , most recently an SS brigade leader and major general of the Waffen SS . From 1944 until the end of the war he commanded the 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS "Handschar" (Croatian No. 1) . During the First World War he served in the Austro-Hungarian army .
