Langerfeld Office

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Langerfeld office was an office in the Hagen district until 1887 and then in the Schwelm district until 1922 .

The office was established as the mayor of Langerfeld in 1817 as the successor to Mairie Langerfeld, who in turn was founded a few years earlier under French rule in the Ruhr department of the Grand Duchy of Berg and was assigned to the canton of Schwelm in the Hagen district. Prussia provisionally administered the Grand Duchy after the French had withdrawn in the Generalgouvernement of Berg before it was finally awarded the territory of the Grand Duchy at the Congress of Vienna . After the founding of the Province of Westphalia , Prussia introduced its own administrative structures, initially largely maintaining the French administrative structure. The mayor's office Langerfeld was assigned to the district of Hagen, which in turn was the successor to the Arrondissement of Hagen.

In 1843 the mayor's office was converted into a Westphalian office . The rural communities ( farmers ) Langerfeld and Nachbarebreck belonged to the office . In 1887 the office was split off from the Hagen district and assigned to the newly founded Schwelm district.

On August 5, 1922 the office was dissolved and the two rural communities Langerfeld and Nachbarebreck were incorporated into the Bergische city of Barmen , which in turn was united in 1929 with the city of Elberfeld and other cities and municipalities to Wuppertal . Due to the incorporation of the former Westphalian district of Langerfeld into the Rhenish Barmen, the border between the Rhineland and Westphalia shifted a bit to the northeast.
