Princess (singer)
Princess (real name Desiree Heslop , born November 27, 1961 in London ) is a British singer who was best known for her hit Say I'm Your Number One .
Career
Desiree Heslop began her music career in the 1970s with the band Osibisa . She also worked with Mai Tai, Evelyn Thomas and Precious Wilson .
In 1985 there was a collaboration with the British production team Stock Aitken Waterman . The single Say I'm Your Number One was released under the name Princess in the summer of the same year , and it sold over a million times worldwide.
In the spring of 1986 the album Princess was released , which also contains the other singles After the Love Has Gone , I'll Keep on Loving You , Tell Me Tomorrow and In the Heat of a Passionate Moment . The first three singles mentioned hit the top 40 in the UK , but none of these singles repeated the success of Say I'm Your Number One .
Princess then switched producers. Her second album All for Love was produced by Richard James Burgess among others and was released in the summer of 1987. Her last chart listing was in mid-1987 with the single Red Hot .
She lived in the USA from 1991 to 2003 , but returned to England in 2003 . In the British TV show Hit Me Baby One More Time , she had another major appearance in 2005 with her biggest hit and a cover version of Kylie Minogue's hit Slow .
