Precious Wilson
Precious Wilson (born October 18, 1957 in Spanish Town , Jamaica ) is a Jamaican pop singer who was successful both with her band Eruption and solo.
Career
With eruption
Wilson began her career in 1975 as a background singer in the British band Eruption, which had been in existence for several years . The group won the RCA Soul Search Contest in London and released their first single. After the previous lead singer Lindell Leslie left the band Eruption, Wilson became the new lead singer . In the changed lineup toured it in the following years due to Germany where Frank Farian became aware of the band in 1977, the band a recording contract procured and in the same year as the opening act of Boney M.let occur. The second single , I Can't Stand the Rain , became a top 10 hit in Germany, England, Austria, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland, and a top 20 hit in the United States. Another hit in Germany came with One Way Ticket , before Wilson left the band in 1979 in favor of a solo career.
solo
Wilson released her first single as a solo artist, Hold On I'm Coming , a cover version of the title by Sam & Dave , in the year she separated from Eruption, but without any notable success. In 1980 the album On the Race Track was released . The first single, Cry to Me , a cover version of a Solomon Burke title , failed to make it into the charts in Germany, but reached number 3 in Switzerland. This title was also broadcast on East German television. The population took notice, especially through the appearance with Helga Hahnemann . Only the second single, We Are on the Race Track , was a success and rose to number 11 in the German charts.
The single released in the following year I Need You reached again only a moderate commercial success in Germany, in Switzerland, however, the title was again in the top 10 in 1982 was followed by the second album called All Colored in Love , which as well as the singles not to could follow previous successes. When the 1983 album Funky Fingers also flopped, the record company broke their contract. Wilson then returned to England and signed a new contract with Jive Records . She released the album Precious Wilson and several singles, including the title track for the movie On the Hunt for the Jewel of the Nile with Michael Douglas . Although the film itself was highly successful, the musical success continued to fail, something the production team Stock Aitken Waterman , with whom she worked in 1987, could not change anything. It wasn't until the early 1990s that it had smaller successes again, Spacer was able to place itself in France and a cover version of Donna Summers I Feel Love reached the top 20 in Great Britain.
Wilson performed as Eruption feat in the 2000s with her solo and band hits. Precious Wilson up.
