Christian Ernst Wünsch

Christian Ernst Wünsch (born October 31, 1744 in Hohenstein ; † May 28, 1828 in Frankfurt an der Oder ) was a German mathematician and physicist .

Christian Ernst Wünsch studied medicine and philosophy in Leipzig with Samuel Friedrich Nathanael More . In 1784 he was appointed professor of mathematics and physics at the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt , where he became a member of the Masonic lodge Zum aufrichtigen Herzen . In 1811 he was the last rector of the university and had to arrange its transfer to Breslau .

His theory of colors , which assumed that all other colors can be created from the three basic colors : red, yellow and blue by mixing, led to a polemical discussion with Johann Wolfgang von Goethe .

His son was the Berlin lawyer Karl Wünsch .
