Desperados III

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Desperados III is a real-time tactical game by the Munich-based developer Mimimi Productions , which was released on June 16, 2020. It belongs to the Desperados game series and is a prequel for the predecessor developed by Spellbound Entertainment .

Gameplay

The gameplay is the same as in its predecessors and in Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, also developed by Mimimi Productions . With a handful of player characters , each with their own skills, you complete missions in each level , whereby, due to the numerical superiority of the enemies, stealth and a systematic approach are in the foreground. By combining the various skills, opponents should be isolated and eliminated individually or in small groups without their allies noticing anything. Unconscious or dead bodies should then be hidden to prevent setting off an alarm that would expose additional enemies. In showdown mode, actions can be planned and then carried out simultaneously at the touch of a button. New compared to the predecessors are the civil areas that occur in some levels, in which you will not be attacked as long as you do nothing forbidden.

action

Bounty hunter John Cooper is after a man named Frank, so he meets with his old friend Hector Mendoza, who has been gathering information on Frank. In the meantime, he also works with Doc McCoy, who was hired by the DeVitt Company to protect a train, and finally receives more information from Kate O'Hara: Frank also works for the DeVitt Company, which is trying to take over the ranch from Kate's family . John, Hector, and Kate hire Doc and defend the ranch together, then pursue Frank to New Orleans . On the way, they receive support from Isabelle Moreau, who they help to free her friend Marshal Wayne from the hands of the DeVitt Company. In New Orleans, John puts Frank to a duel, but is defeated and is forced to work at DeVitt's gold mine together with his friends. They escape, and at a DeVitt party, they capture him and hand him over to Marshal Wayne. Eventually they attack Frank in his fortress, and Cooper manages to kill him.

Characters

  • John Cooper: A bounty hunter . He has revolvers with which he can attack two enemies at the same time in showdown mode, a throwing knife and coins for briefly distracting enemies and for scaring animals. He can also swim, dive and climb.
  • Doc McCoy: A doctor. With his sniper rifle he can take out enemies from a great distance, his doctor's bag can attract enemies and blind them for a short time. He can also throw vials of anesthetic gas and treat wounds.
  • Hector Mendoza: A trapper who can set up his huge bear trap Bianca and lure enemies with whistles. He is the only character who can take on the enemy type of Long Coats in close combat, his shotgun has an areal effect. He has more life points than the other characters, can carry two bodies at once and heal himself with a swig from his flask.
  • Kate O'Hara: She can dress up to distract or lure opponents away. With her perfume bottle she can blind opponents for a short time. Your Deringer only has a short range, but is relatively quiet.
  • Isabelle Moreau: A Voodoo Practitioner. With her blowpipe, she can either connect two enemies together so that all effects work on both at the same time, or exercise mind control over an enemy for a short time. She can also heal injuries with her herbs, and her cat Stella can distract opponents. She too can swim, dive and climb.

All characters also have a lethal and a non-lethal melee attack (Kate: only non-lethal), can tie up NPCs (except Kate) and carry or pull lifeless bodies.

NPCs

In addition to civilians, who only sound the alarm if the characters behave suspiciously, there are different types of enemies:

  • Bat: Has only a melee attack.
  • Shooter: The standard opponent with a firearm.
  • Poncho: These opponents are difficult to distract and lure away and always try to hold the position.
  • Long Coats: These have more life points, have to be shot so that someone except Hector can take them out in close combat, and are also difficult to distract and lure away.

Sagittarius and ponchos can be both male and female, with Kate's seduction skills not working on women.
