Detlef Busche

Detlef Busche (born May 1, 1942 in Bad Oeynhausen ; † November 4, 2011 in Marburg ) was a German geographer , geomorphologist and university professor .

Life

Detlef Busche was most recently Professor of Physical Geography at the University of Würzburg until his retirement . During his scientific career he dealt with the relief history of the central Sahara and its climate and form changes in the Quaternary (in detail with pediments , strata and karst forms ) as well as with geomorphological forms in Iran . Busche was a commission member for geomorphology at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. In the local area, Busche mainly dealt with the Franconian layer level country. Most recently, Busche was also involved in the Spessart Archaeological Project .

Busche was also the main author of the first comprehensive geomorphological image atlas Landscapes of the Earth . He was also the co-editor of several geographic magazines, including a. the journal of geomorphology . In addition to his research activities, Busche, who also taught in the USA for some time, was known for his much-respected ability to translate subject-specific texts into several languages ​​in great detail.

Busche died on November 4, 2011 and was buried in Berlin .
