Detlef Esslinger

Detlef Esslinger (born May 17, 1964 in Bitburg ) is a German journalist .

Life

Esslinger was born in Bitburg. From 1983 to 1989 he studied economics and political science in Cologne and Trier. During his studies, Esslinger worked as a freelancer for the Trierischer Volksfreund and the Bonner General-Anzeiger . He then graduated from the Henri Nannen School in Hamburg . Esslinger has been editor of the Süddeutsche Zeitung since 1991 . He was a correspondent in Frankfurt am Main and headed the media section of the Süddeutsche Zeitung.

Esslinger is currently deputy head of the internal affairs department and is also responsible for training volunteers. He also works as a lecturer at journalism schools in Germany and Switzerland .
