Detlef Jericke

Detlef Jericke (* 1953 ) is a German Protestant theologian and Old Testament scholar .

Life

From 1973 to 1980 Jericke studied Protestant theology and German in Tübingen and Zurich . After the state examination in 1979 (Protestant theology / German studies) and the first Protestant theological examination in 1980, he made a three-month study visit to Israel in 1981 ( École biblique et archéologique française de Jérusalem ). From 1981 to 1985 he was a research assistant at the Biblical Archaeological Institute of the University of Tübingen for the Collaborative Research Center 19 Tübingen Atlas of the Middle East (TAVO). In 1984 he received a scholarship from the German Evangelical Institute for Classical Studies in the Holy Land as a participant in the archaeological course in Israel and Jordan . From 1988 to 1990 he did a training vicariate at the Württemberg regional church . After the Second Evangelical Theological Service Examination in 1990 he was a lecturer for German as a foreign language from 1992 to 1993 . After receiving his doctorate in 1993 as Dr. theol. at the Humboldt University in Berlin , he was a research assistant at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Tübingen from 1993 to 1994. From 1994 to 1997 he was a fellow of the German Research Foundation . In 1995 he made a two-month study visit to Israel. From 1995 to 1998 he was a lecturer for Biblical Archeology at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Mainz . From 1998 to 2002 he was a lecturer in Biblical Archeology at the Theological Faculty of Heidelberg University . From 1999 to 2004 he was a research assistant at the Biblical Archaeological Institute of the University of Tübingen (DFG project Handbook of Old Testament Topography). After completing his habilitation in 2004 at the Theological Faculty of Heidelberg University, he was an editorial assistant at Verlag Mohr Siebeck, Tübingen (editing of the concise dictionary Religion in Geschichte und Gegenwart , 4th edition) from 2005 to 2006 . In 2007 he was a research assistant at the Theological Faculty of Heidelberg University: DFG research project "The Locations in the Book of Deuteronomy" (headed by Jan Christian Gertz ), in 2010 in the DFG research project "The Locations in the Book of Genesis". In 2017 he was a research assistant at the Catholic Faculty of the University of Trier : DFG research project "The location information in the book of Josua" (headed by Erasmus Gaß ). He has been retired since December 1, 2018.
