Detlef Müller (born June 13, 1954 in Dissen ) is a German mathematician who deals with analysis .

Müller received his doctorate in 1981 at the University of Bielefeld under Horst Leptin (1927–2017) ( The synthesis behavior of smooth hypersurfaces with homogeneous curvature conditions ). He completed his habilitation in Kiel in 1984. In 1992 he became professor at the University of Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg and in 1994 at the University of Kiel .

He deals with harmonic analysis (including on Lie groups ) with applications to partial differential equations .

In 2018 he was made a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society . Müller is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Lie Theory and the Annali di Matematica Pura ed Applicata .
