The German Palliative Foundation (DPS) is a foundation with the aim of improving hospice work and palliative care for seriously ill and dying people in Germany . It is a national platform for committed laypeople, specialists, volunteers and full -time workers in palliative-hospice work .

history

The foundation was set up on May 8, 2010 by eight founders. It is based in Fulda . On June 28, 2010, the first nationwide specialist congress on outpatient palliative care took place in Berlin. The German Children's Palliative Foundation is also administered by the DPS.

tasks

The tasks of the foundation are, according to its constitution, to further improve hospice work and palliative care for seriously ill and dying people in Germany. According to the founder, patients with all diagnoses must receive palliative care appropriate to their needs.

Among other things, the foundation conducts lobbying work in politics and society. For example, she initiated changes to the Narcotics Act with a letter to Chancellor Angela Merkel and a petition to the German Bundestag . This petition and the resulting public discussion eventually led to the necessary steps for changes. All demands of the petition have been included in the current amendment to the Medicines Act. The requirements were implemented in the "Second Act to Change Pharmaceutical Law and Other Regulations" (thus also its Art. 4 "Change to the BtMG / BtM care for outpatient palliative patients") and published on October 25, 2012 in Federal Law Gazette I No. 50. The narcotics regulations came into force on October 26, 2012.

Public relations work and the nationwide networking of palliative and hospice facilities that are already active regionally are further areas of responsibility of the foundation, including advising laypeople, specialists, and full-time and volunteer workers in associations and institutions. Affected persons and relatives who contact the foundation will be given suitable contacts on site.

The Deutsche PalliativStiftung has undertaken to disclose all activities and financial matters in accordance with the criteria of Transparency International .
