German School Cuenca

The German School Cuenca ( Spanish Colegio Alemán Stiehle de Cuenca ), also the German School Stiehle, is located east of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Cuenca on the Tomebamba River in the Ecuadorian Andes . It was named after the German architect and priest Johannes Baptista Stiehle (1829–1899), who was an active builder in Cuenca.

history

It emerged in 2002 from an initiative by Ecuadorian parents who wanted to give their children an excellent education and subsequently set up a kindergarten and a school with primary and secondary levels. With the support of the German Consulate in Cuenca, one of the two national schools with an international qualification ("Bachillerato Internacional Multilingüe") was created. Now one of the 140 German schools abroad, she teaches in accordance with both German and Ecuadorian standards.

Awards

The high standards of education received recognition in 2012 when the German School Stiehle and five other award winners received an award from the Foreign Office for their project “Fun in Science” as part of the Excellence Initiative for Innovative Learning.
