The DTG German Touring GmbH is a German bus company based in Frankfurt am Main . The main business areas are international and national regular bus services .

history

The company was founded in 1948 and is the sole owner of Touring Bohemia (Czech Republic), Touring Croatia (Croatia), Touring Serbia (Serbia) and Eurolines Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway and Sweden). The company has been a member of the Eurolines network since 1985 . A 40 percent stake in MootorReisi AS ( “Eurolines Baltic” ) was sold to the majority owner in 2009.

Until 2005, DB Fernverkehr AG owned the majority of Deutsche Touring, but sold its shares because Deutsche Bahn AG no longer included the activities of DTG in its core business. A purchase price was not officially named, but it was estimated at 30 million euros. This sale was also accompanied by criticism, as it was suspected that DTG could now increasingly compete with the railway. In fact, DTG had been involved in a legal dispute with Deutsche Bahn about the introduction of a long-distance bus route from Frankfurt to Cologne and Dortmund since 2005 , which was decided in June 2010 in favor of Deutsche Touring. In July 2010, the DTG announced that by 2011 at the latest, together with partner companies, it would set up a nationwide bus network between major German cities in regular intervals.

Since December 31, 2016, Eurolines Scandinavia ApS has been a subsidiary of Rødbillet salg ApS and is no longer part of the Eurolines group.

On March 27, 2017, Deutsche Touring filed for bankruptcy . In August 2017, Deutsche Touring was taken over by long-term partner CroatiaBus, a subsidiary of the Globtour Group.

Shareholder

Until the bankruptcy in 2017, the shareholders were the Spanish Ibero Eurosur SL (82.82%), a consortium of the Spanish bus companies ALSA Grupo , Linebus and Monbus / Socitransa as well as the Portuguese bus cooperatives Internorte and Intercentro, and Ergo Reiseversicherung (17.18%). CroatiaBus has been the sole shareholder since August 2017.
