According to its subtitle, Deutsche Uhrmacher-Zeitung was also the "Organ of the Central Association of German Watchmakers". The magazine , initially published by Marfels in Berlin and later by Stäckel there, appeared from 1877 in 67 volumes up to issue 13/14 in 1943.

The periodical dealt with the watchmaking trade as well as with watch technology and the German watch industry .

The magazine's successor in the war years from 1943 to 1944 was the watchmaker's magazine published by Strauss, Vetter & Co. Official organ of the Reichsinnungsverband des Uhrmacherhandwerk and the specialist group for jewels, gold and silver goods, watches of the retail trade group .

The Sächsische Landesbibliothek - Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Dresden (SLUB) has digitized the journal volumes up to 1942 and made them available online free of charge.
