German Association for Combating Virus Diseases

The German Association for Combating Virus Diseases (DVV) is a registered association based in Düsseldorf . It was founded in 1954 as a reaction to the continuing threat to the population from poliomyelitis and was given its current name in 1977. The DVV sees its tasks particularly as providing scientific support for public and individual protection against virus infections . It is borne by the Federal Ministry of Health , the health ministries of the federal states, scientific specialist societies and socially committed foundations and organizations. Individuals cannot be members of the DVV. The DVV is supported by the association for the fight against viral diseases .

In 2012 , the DVV and the Society for Virology developed specific recommendations for HIV- positive employees in the healthcare sector, compliance with which forms the basis for an official, but also a court decision on a professional activity ban in accordance with § 31 IfSG can be. In 2020, the recommendations for hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus infected people in the healthcare sector were updated.
