International recognition

In 1952, the Hockey Section submitted an application for membership in the World Hockey Federation (FIH) for the first time , but this was rejected at the Helsinki Congress with 7: 8 votes; however, the section was admitted to the FIH as a provisional member. German-German hockey games

There was only one official international hockey match between the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic . It took place at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico on October 17th under the common flag, black-red-gold with the Olympic rings , and was won 3-2 by the FRG.

For the Olympic Games from 1956 to 1964, Germany competed with a joint team , but not with a joint hockey team. For Melbourne 1956 the DHSV waived and both hockey associations suggested the DHB team as a participant. For Rome in 1960 and Tokyo in 1964 , qualifying games with a return leg were scheduled. In both cases a second round was required as each team had won a game from the first round. In 1960 the DHB provided the hockey team, and in 1964 the DHSV.
