The German Additive Museum on the premises of the Hamburg wholesale market provides information about additives and additives such as flavor enhancers , flavors , colorings and enzymes in food . Current and historical topics are presented.

The scientific management of the structure lay with the food chemists Georg Schwedt and Udo Pollmer .

The museum is supported by the Hamburg Food Foundation. The chairman of the foundation is Friederike Ahlers from the Ahlers family, who are the majority shareholder in FRoSTA AG , a deep-frozen food producer based in Bremerhaven . The Ahlers family is also the main sponsor of the Hamburg Food Foundation.
