The Teutonic Sisters are an incorporated institute of the Teutonic Order .

Since the 13./14. Century sister houses, these died out in the 16th century as a result of the Reformation. They were re-established in 1840 as sisters of the German House of St. Mariens in Jerusalem . Around 1900 there were more than 1000 sisters working in the Austria-Hungary area, spread across 60 institutions.

Today the Teutonic Sisters find their main activity in the social-charitable area, above all care, support and education. They are based in Germany , Austria , Italy , the Czech Republic , Slovenia and Slovakia .

The first German provincial superior was Amata Grüner , the current provincial superior and general assistant is Maria-Franziska Meier.
