Deva Premal (* 1970 in Nuremberg , Germany , as Jolantha Fries) is a New Age - singer , through their atmospheric songs and echoes of Hindu mantras was known.

She is the daughter of the visual artist Wolfgang Fries and a classical musician. As a child she was influenced by mantras and Eastern spirituality and received violin , piano and singing lessons at a very early age . With her partner, the British singer and guitarist Miten (* 1947 as Andy Desmond), whom she met in 1990 in Pune in the Ashram of Osho , she has given concerts in the USA , Japan , Europe , Asia , Brazil , Canada and Australia and since 1991 organizes workshops. More than 1,500,000 copies of her CDs were produced by 2018.

Satsangs or mantra singing workshops are often offered before or after the concerts .

Its name is derived from Sanskrit Deva ("God, divine") and Hindi premal ("filled with love", from Sanskrit prema , "love") and means something like "filled with divine love".
