Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) or Kota Kinabalu City Hall means the city ​​council of the city and district of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah State , Malaysia . It was established on February 2, 2000 following the official elevation of Kota Kinabalu to city status. Previously, Kota Kinabalu was administered by the Majlis Perbandaran Kota Kinabalu (MPKK) , the Kota Kinabalu Town Council. The area of ​​responsibility of the DBKK extends over an area of ​​351 square kilometers and includes not only the city center of Kota Kinabalu but also the sub-districts and cities in the surrounding area - including Tanjung Aru, Kepayan, Luyang, Inanam , Menggatal , Telipok and Sepanggar . This does not include the neighboring city of Donggongon , which is administered by the Majlis Perbandaran Penampang (Penampang District Council) .
