Sepanggar , also Sepangar or Sapangar , is a city on the west coast of the state of Sabah in Malaysia . Sepanggar belongs to the outskirts of the capital Kota Kinabalu and is assigned as a sub-district of the administration of Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (City Council Kota Kinabalu).

location

Sepanggar is about 7 kilometers north of downtown Kota Kinabalu and stretches along Sepanggar Bay .

Facilities

Sepanggar does not have an established urban infrastructure, it is rather a typical satellite town . In addition to housing estates, the district mainly consists of

  • Industrial areas (Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP)),
  • Port facilities (Sepanggar Bay Container Terminal, Sepanggar Bay Oil Terminal),
  • Educational institutions (Campus Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Universiti Teknologi MARA Sabah , Polytechnic Kota Kinabalu) and
  • a naval base of the Royal Malaysian Navy.

Container Terminal

After commissioning of the container terminal Sepangar Container Port Terminal of the total container traffic in the port of Kota Kinabalu was relocated here.

Naval base

After the expansion, the naval base has housed two Scorpène-class submarines built in Spain , the KD Tunku Abdul Rahman and KD Tun Razak, since 2010 .

1Borneo

The "1Borneo" shopping mall , which opened in 2008, is the largest shopping center in Borneo.

politics

Sepanggar belongs to the constituency P.171 (Sepanggar) and is represented in the Malaysian parliament by YB Enchin bin Majimbun ( Barisan Nasional ). In the Legislative Assembly of Sabah ( Dewan Undangan Negeri Sabah ) Sepanggar falls into constituencies N.12 (Karambunai) and N.13 (Inanam).
