Putatan is a small town in the Malaysian state of Sabah and belongs to the district of the same name, Putatan District . Putatan borders directly on Kota Kinabalu and thus has the status of a suburb. It is part of the West Coast Division area to which the districts of Kota Kinabalu , Ranau , Kota Belud , Tuaran , Penampang , Putatan and Papar belong.

history

Putatan used to be a city within the Penampang district . Due to the rapid development of Kota Kinabalu, more and more families settled in the urban fringes, so that in March 1997 Putatan was first given the status of a sub-district 5th grade ( daerah kecil , literally: by the then Prime Minister of Sabah, YAB Datuk Yong Teck Lee) . small district) and was finally raised to the status of a separate district on March 1, 2007.

Demographics

According to the last census in 2010, the population is 1306 and consists mainly of Bajau and a larger number of Malay , Kadazan-Dusun and Chinese .
