The Putatan District is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah . The administrative seat is the city of Putatan . Putatan District is part of the West Coast Division area which includes Kota Kinabalu , Ranau , Kota Belud , Tuaran , Penampang , Putatan, and Papar districts .

history

During the time it was administered by the North Borneo Chartered Company , Putatan was the seat of a district office, which at that time was located in what is now Kampung Lok Bonu, across the Sungai Dumpil. At that time the estuaries of Sungai Dumpik and Sungai Putatan united there. The original property of the Putatan District Office belonged to Pengiran Muda So Tajuddin Pengiran Muda Hashim. The property bordered on Tanah Tulen Dumpil Meruntum which in turn belonged to Pangeran Anak Untung Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Hussin Kamaluddin, the 16th Sultan of Brunei. Governor Treacher had acquired the property including the previously independent river basin ( tulin ) in 1884 from Pengiran Muda Tajuddin for an annual lease of 1000 Straits dollars for the company. In view of the many putat trees, the British renamed the square in Putat Town , yes, they even use the trees to fence the property in Lok Bonu. Putat Town eventually became Putatan among the locals . Today's Putatan is in a different place.

Putatan used to be a city within the Penampang district . Due to the rapid development of Kota Kinabalu, more and more families settled in the urban fringes, so that in March 1997 Putatan was first given the status of a sub-district 5th class ( daerah kecil , literally: small district) and was finally raised to the status of a separate district on March 1, 2007.
