The Kota Kinabalu District is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah . The administrative seat is the city of Kota Kinabalu . The district is part of the West Coast Division area which includes the districts of Kota Kinabalu, Ranau , Kota Belud , Tuaran , Penampang , Putatan and Papar .
Demographics
According to the last census in 2010, the district's population is 462,963 and consists of a mix of diverse nationalities and ethnicities, of which the Chinese (20%), Kadazan-Dusun (15%), Bajau (16%), Malay (8th %) and Murut (6%) make up the largest part. As in many other districts of Sabah, there are significant numbers of illegal immigrants from the nearby Philippines , especially from Sulu and Mindanao , who are not recorded in the population statistics.
Administrative headquarters
The district's administrative headquarters are in Kota Kinabalu. The administration of the district as well as the city is carried out by the Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) . The Kota Kinabalu City Hall was established after the official survey Kota Kinabalu in city status on 2 February 2000 to life.
The area of responsibility of the DBKK extends over an area of 351 square kilometers and, in addition to the city center of Kota Kinabalu, also includes the sub-districts and cities in the surrounding area - including Tanjung Aru, Kepayan, Luyang, Inanam , Menggatal , Telipok and Sepanggar . This does not include the neighboring city of Donggongon , which is administered by the Majlis Perbandaran Penampang (Penampang District Council) .
