Sapulut or Sepulut is a small town in the Malaysian state of Sabah . Sapulut is located on the Sungai Sapulut , 80 kilometers as the crow flies southeast of Keningau. The small town belongs to Nabawan County and is part of the Interior Division .

Gunung Antulai (1713 m) rises about five kilometers from Sapulut .

Infrastructure

Sapulut is connected to Keningau via an asphalt road. The continuation of the road via Kalabakan to Tawau should create a connection between the capital and Tawau that is three hours faster. The project was originally supposed to be completed in 2007, but the section between Sapulut and Kalabakan still consists of a gravel road, as the completion of the road surface was canceled from the contract with the construction company due to a corruption scandal.

Batu Punggul

Batu Punggul is a striking rock formation rising steeply from the rainforest, which plays an important role in the legends of the Murut. The rock is located at Kampong Tataluan. To get there from Sepulut, a 2-5 hour trip in a wooden canoe with an outboard motor on the Murut is required.
