Menumbok , sometimes also Menumbuk , is a parish and a sub-district in the western part of the Malaysian state of Sabah . The center of the municipality is located at the mouth of the Sungai Klias and the northern end of Brunei Bay . Menumbok is part of the Interior Division and is located about 165 kilometers by road southwest of the state capital Kota Kinabalu . Administratively it belongs to the Kuala Penyu district .

Infrastructure

Menumbok is the pier for ferry traffic between Sabah and Labuan . Due to the short distance, the Menumbok-Labuan route is the fastest and cheapest connection to the federal territory of Labuan.

Menumbok belongs to the constituency P.177 ( Beaufort ). In the Legislative Assembly of Sabah ( Dewan Undangan Negeri Sabah ) the sub-district is represented by the MP from the constituency of Kuala Penyu N.26.

Division of the sub-district

The Membakut sub-district is divided into three municipal administrations (mukim) :

• Mukim Mempakul with the city of Menumbok and the settlements of Mempakul, Kampung Laut Menumbok, Kampung Darat Menumbok, Kampung Bukit Nuri, Kampung Peringan and Kampung Sarap / Siampak
• Mukim Tanjung Aru with the settlements (kampung) Tanjung Aru, Sangkabok, Lambidan, Melikai, Manggis / Golong-Golongan, Jungkun and Jagus
• Mukim Kilugus with the settlements (kampung) Kilugus, Siaun, Sinapokan, Matadan, Kelampun, Kepayan Skim and Batu Linting
