Dewey Robinson

Dewey Robinson (born August 17, 1898 in New Haven , Connecticut , † December 11, 1950 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) was an American actor .

Life

Dewey Robinson was born the fourth child of Rose (1862-1914) and Max Mordechai Robinson (1862-1926). His siblings were Miriam (1886–1952), Arthur (1894–1972), Lilian (1896–1953) and Esther (1905–1931). He was married to Louise Arlene Woolner from 1928 until his death. He died of a heart attack in Las Vegas at the age of 52 and was buried in the Chapel Of The Pines Crematory in Los Angeles .

Act

In the 1930s and 1940s Robinson starred in a total of over 270 films. The tall, beefy actor mainly played body-hugging characters, whose intelligence was often not very high at the same time. Many of his film appearances were narrow, but occasionally he was given the opportunity to a larger supporting role.

His first major film roles include the role of Ed Deal in the western Law and Order from 1932, he also had a larger role as a mobster on the side of Edward G. Robinson in the gangster film Little Giant . In 1935 he was seen as one of the amateur theater actors in Max Reinhardt's star-studded film adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream . In the 1940s Robinson appeared in minor supporting roles in several comedies by Preston Sturges . In the 1950 adventure film The Pirate Bride , he played the role of the pirate Kryl. His last film, The Sons of the Three Musketeers , was released over a year after his death.
