The Dhëmbel ( Albanian  also  Dhëmbeli, Mali i Dhëmbelit ) is a mountain in southern Albania , which is 2050  m above sea level. A. is high.

The mountain rises west of the Vjosa valley as part of the Trëbëshinj-Dhëmbel-Nëmerçka mountain range above Përmet . The Nemërçka ( 2485  m above sea level ) connects to the south. The mountain range is a mighty anticline made of limestone with a Flysch mantle . In the west lies the syncline of Zagori and Pogon, which runs parallel to the mountain and is closed in the west by the anticline of the Shëndëll-Lunxhëria-Buretoja mountain range with the Lunxhëria mountain as its culmination point.

The mountain drops steeply and over 1000 meters to the west and east. To the south of the summit there is an approximately 600-meter-deep cut in the mountain range, the Dhëmbel Pass , which separates the mountain from the Nemërçka. A wide ridge joins the spacious summit plateau to the north, which only slowly loses height. The mountain stretches as a straight ridge for more than a dozen kilometers to the northwest before it gradually ends at Këlcyra and is limited by the Vjosa Gorge, which breaks through the mountain range there.

The area around the mountain is sparsely populated. Only in the Vjosa valley at the foot of the mountain are there several villages and the small town of Përmet, which is around 1,800 meters below the summit.

The region is dominated by the Mediterranean climate . Temperatures range from 0 ° C (January) to 24 ° C (July). The annual average rainfall is 1530 mm. November is the month with the highest precipitation with 200 mm, the least precipitation with 27 mm.
