The old diaconate is a listed residential and commercial building in Eppingen in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg . The building was originally built in the early 16th century as St. Peter's Chapel , closed after the Reformation , used at times as a sheepfold, in the 18th century again used as St. Peter's Church for the Lutheran congregation, later as a diaconate building and schoolhouse.

history

The building, which dates back to 1520, was originally known as the St. During the Reformation, which drew Kurpfalz the benefice one of the church, after which they profane served purposes as a sheep house. Due to the denominational development of the Electoral Palatinate, there were three Christian denominations in Eppingen in the middle of the 18th century: Catholics , Reformed and Lutherans . While Catholics and Reformed Christians shared the parish church of Our Lady as a simultaneous church , the Lutherans received the former St. Peter's Church for their services. Later the Lutheran denominational school , first mentioned in 1803, was set up there. After Reformed and Lutherans merged to form the Evangelical Church in 1821, the building served as an Evangelical Girls' School. The school initially only had one room, but was later expanded. The west side of the building remained a school house until recently, most recently as a cooking school. In the 19th century, the diaconate , from which the building's current name derives, had its seat in the other half of the building. The building was last rebuilt in 1967/68 and was the seat of part of the city administration until 2007. In the summer of 2007 a real estate company acquired the property for 128,000 euros and carried out a comprehensive renovation. The building is used today as a residential and commercial building.
