Diamond Mountain District AVA (recognized since June 1, 2001) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California , is part of the national Napa Valley AVA and partly overlaps with the North Coast AVA . The area lies within the Mayacamas Mountains in the northeastern part of the Napa Valley . Due to the hilly environment, the vineyards are higher than the usual areas of the Napa Valley and therefore benefit less from the cooling effect of the mist of the Bay of San Pablo .

However, this shortcoming is partly compensated for by the porous soil of volcanic origin, as it cools down quickly when the sun's rays decrease.

Of the total of 2000 hectares of approved vineyards, around 200 hectares are currently planted.
