Diana Ürge resolution

Diana Ürge-Vorsatz (born 1968 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian climate scientist. She is a professor at the Central European University (CEU).

Life

From 1986 to 1992, Ürge-Vorsatz completed a master’s degree at Eötvös-Loránd University with a focus on astro and later environmental physics. From 1992 to 1996 she completed a doctoral degree in environmental science and technology at the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of California, Berkeley , the latter as a scholarship holder under the Fulbright program .

Ürge-Vorsatz is married and has seven children.

Act

Ürge-Vorsatz 'work focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from buildings and cities and their importance for climate change . She is one of the authors of the fourth and fifth assessment reports of the IPCC . She is also one of the authors of the IPCC's special report on global warming of 1.5 degrees (2018).

In 2017, Ürge-Vorsatz sharply criticized the restrictions on academic freedom imposed by the government under Viktor Orbán . Under Orbán, the CEU, where Ürge-Vorsatz is active, was later forced to move from Budapest to Vienna.
