Diana Cabrera (marksman)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Diana Valerie Cabrera (born March 18, 1984 in Toronto , Canada ) is a Uruguayan- Canadian sports shooter .

Depending on the sources, the 1.51 meter or 1.52 meter tall Cabrera, which in 2011 weighed in at a competition weight of 65 kg, began shooting at the Scarborough Rifle Club in September 1999 . The reason for taking up this sport was the illness of her father, who had extensive weapons possession . He feared that he would have to give up these weapons as a result of his illness. To prevent this from happening, he asked his daughter to get a PAL gun license. Cabrera complied with this request and subsequently began shooting. In 2006 she started for Canada at the Commonwealth Games in the 50-meter rifle discipline. Cabrera, now as a member of the Uruguayan national team, also took part in the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro . In 2010, Cabrera , who works for the Canadian Shooting Sports Association , started at the 2010 South American Games in Medellín , where she won the bronze medal with a score of 573 points. This medal win was the first in Uruguayan sports history as part of this event at a competition in this sport. Again she was a member of the Uruguayan squad at the Pan American Games 2011 in Guadalajara . There she finished 28th and penultimate place in the 10-meter air rifle competition with 374 points. In 2014 she competed in both the World Championships and the American Championships. The following year she took part with the Uruguayan team in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. There she took 21st place with the 10-meter air rifle and the 50-meter rifle.
