Allan Ray (born June 17, 1984 in New York City , New York ) is an American basketball player in the position of shooting guard . He was on the field for the Boston Celtics in the 2006/07 season , although he was not included in the 2006 NBA Draft . His three-point throw and the creation of his own throwing situations count as his great strengths . In the 2012/13 season Ray was under contract with the German Bundesliga basketball team ratiopharm ulm .

Career

College time

Allan Ray and his team became New York State Champion at St. Raymond High School when the then coach of the Villanova Wildcats , Jay Wright, won Ray for himself. In his second season as a sophomore , Ray was his team's top scorer with 17.3 points per game. He stayed that way in his junior year, before he was replaced in his senior season by Randy Foye, with whom he was elected to the all-first team of the Big East Conference of the NCAA .

Eye injury

During the 2006 Big East Tournament , Allan Ray sustained a serious eye injury. In the semi-final game against Pittsburgh , he was hit so badly in the right eye by an opponent that he briefly lost his eyesight on it. In retrospect it turned out that it was only a slight tissue damage. The eyesight also came back after a short time.

Professional career

Allan Ray took part in the 2006 NBA Draft in 2006 , but contrary to expectations he was not considered and was not selected. However, he signed a contract with the Boston Celtics as a free agent and was sent to their farm team Austin Toros in the NBA Development League . Ray was the top scorer in the first two games of the Toros and was recalled by the Celtics to play in the NBA. There he improved continuously and scored 22, 20, 18 and 17 points in the last two months of the season and was the fourth best three-point shooter among all rookies with a rate of 41.4 percent. Nevertheless, Ray was released from his contract at the end of the season.

Ray then moved to Rome in 2007 to Lottomatica Virtus in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A , with whom he also played in the highest European club competition ULEB Euroleague . While the second round of the 16 best teams was reached in the following two seasons in European competition, Ray's contract with the runners-up 2008 was terminated in January 2009, whereupon he moved to the league competitor and promoted Carife from Ferrara , with whom he did, however, move into missed the play-offs for the national championship. After a knee injury , Ray had to pause the entire 2009/10 season before he got a new contract with Sutor Basket from Montegranaro, also in Serie A, for the 2010/11 season . However, the club missed the renewed entry into the play-offs for the championship and only reached 13th place in the table with one victory ahead of the relegation places.

After a four-week contract in November 2011 with the former Slovenian EuroChallenge winner KK Krka from Novo mesto , Allan Ray played for Élan Béarnais from Pau in the French LNB Pro A from December 2011 . The multiple French champion and former Korać Cup winner, however, only reached the penultimate place in the table after seven wins this season and was relegated again from the top national league. In August 2012 the German first division club ratiopharm ulm signed Allan Ray for a year, where he replaced last year's top scorer in the team, Isaiah Swann . While the second most important European competition Eurocup 2012/13 with the German vice-champion the knockout games reached the quarter-finals and thus the greatest international success of the club, one difference in the national championship this time already in the play-off semi-final series from . Afterwards, Ray's contract in Ulm was not renewed and he joined Club Sagesse from Beirut in the Lebanese Division A in early October 2013 . Before the start of the season in the Middle East, he got out of this contract and signed with the Croatian cup finalist KK Cedevita from Zagreb , with whom he will play in the 2013/14 Eurocup in addition to the ABA league .
