Diana Fuentes

Diana Fuentes (born February 23, 1985 in Havana ) is a Cuban musician who works primarily as a singer and writes many of her songs herself. Their style of music is a mixture of R'n'B , hip-hop , funk and soul .

Life

She began taking ballet lessons at the age of three and later took part in the Ballet Nacional de Cuba . But the Cuban economic crisis that began in 1990 ruined this dream. Instead, she started playing the piano and guitar .

In 2001 she decided to pursue a professional music career. In the next few years she toured with various artists and appeared as a guest singer on numerous albums.

She achieved her first international breakthrough in 2008 when she performed with the rapper Kumar and the DJ Erick Gonzales as part of the first “Havana Cultura Tour” in Ibiza in order to make the Cuban music scene better known abroad. Diana Fuentes came to Germany for the first time in 2010 as part of such a tour.

In 2008 Diana Fuentes released her first album, Amargo Pero Dulce , which consists largely of songs she wrote herself. Her second album, Planeta Planetario , followed in 2014, targeting the international market. It was produced by the rapper Eduardo Cabra, who, under the pseudonym Visitante, is one of the two frontmen of the Puerto Rican band Calle 13 . The two were married from 2011 to 2017 and have a son.

As part of the Playing for Change campaign, she performed with numerous other Cuban artists on the recording of the song Guantanamera .
