Diane Shalet

Diane Shalet Strong ( February 23, 1934 - February 23, 2006 in Palm Springs , California ) was an American actress and writer.

Life

Shalet played her first theater role on Broadway in Arthur Miller's After the Fall in 1964 . In particular, she worked with the renowned Lincoln Center Repertory Company under the directors Robert Whitehead and Elia Kazan . She also taught acting at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for 17 years and at Robert Lewis' Drama School for 14 years . She founded "The Actors and Writers Lab". Shalet was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the renowned New York drama workshop The Actors Studio .

Diane Shalet, who lived in both Manhattan and Los Angeles, starred in films such as The Reivers and The Last Tycoon . She became known as a series star in TV productions such as The Waltons , Perry Mason , The Monkeys , Bonanza and Matlock . In addition, she had more than 100 guest appearances.

In 1994 she wrote the novel Grief in a Sunny Climate .

Shalet was married to actor Michael Strong († September 29, 1980).
