Richard Lee "Dick" Bass (born March 15, 1937 in Georgetown , Mississippi , † February 1, 2006 in Norwalk , California ) was an American football player .

Dick Bass graduated from the University of the Pacific and was a player on the university's college football team , the Pacific Tigers. In 1959 he was in the first round by the then- Los Angeles Rams drafted , for which he played from 1960 to 1969 and three times for the Pro Bowl was nominated. He was the first running back with more than 1000 yards in one season with the Rams. His nickname was The Scooter .
