Dick Grant (actually Richard Grant ; born August 3, 1878 in Dufferin , Manitoba , † January 9, 1958 in St. Catharines , Ontario ) was a Canadian long-distance runner .

In 1896 he became Canadian champion in the two-mile run. A seventh place in the Boston Marathon in 1898 was followed by a second place in 1899. With his brother Alex Grant he shared the US title over five miles that year.

In 1900 he finished eighth in Boston. From Harvard University , he was for the Marathon of the Olympic Games in Paris nominated. Just like his brother Alex, who was sent from Harvard University and started over 800 m and 4000 m obstacles, he was officially assigned to the US team.

The Olympic marathon turned out to be a poorly organized event. Only seven of the 13 runners who started reached the finish. Grant, who came in sixth without an officially recorded time, complained that he had been knocked over by a cyclist while lying in a promising position.
