Dick Morley

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Richard E. "Dick" Morley (born December 1, 1932 in Clinton , Massachusetts , † October 17, 2017 in New Hampshire ) was an American engineer in the field of electronics and computer technology. He and Odo J. Struger are considered the fathers of the programmable logic controller .

In 1969 he presented a “Modicon 084” as a “solid-state sequential logic solver” (semiconductor-based sequential logic computer). He resisted the term “computer” because he saw acceptance as a threat. The programming was done graphically with a ladder diagram , a circuit diagram- like representation.

Morley is the owner of several patents and author of technical books.
